We love the surprise of a blood orange. From the exterior, it’s just a small, ripe, perfectly wonderful orange. When you slice, however, the dark, deep romance arrives, in sanguine flesh with notes of raspberry and plum. There's something delightfully devious about a blood orange–a Sicilian love story, gone awry. When dried, that luscious center pulp gives us one of our prettiest fruit crisps, with tones of henna, burgundy, and wine, with golden flecks emerging when held to the light.
